By the TTOC Advisory Committee
What to do when you arrive at a job
Report to the main office and sign in/check in with the office staff.
Ask for access to keys and safety plans (and take the time to read them).
Ask if there is any supervision duty.
Check the teacher’s mailbox for the day plan/lesson plan (or ask office staff for info as some schools have pre-packaged TTOC folders).
When you arrive in the classroom (some items may be classroom specific)
Find and review the emergency procedure books.
Review the teacher’s day plan.
Review the teacher’s TTOC binder.
Read student IEPs (individualized education plans).
Login to any necessary technology.
Write the daily agenda on the board.
Make note of important items: gas valve shut off, electrical shut off, phone (know how to contact the office).
At the end of the day
Write and leave behind a day plan for the next day.
Set up the classroom (make printed copies of any resources or worksheets for the next day).
Write and leave behind a report on how the day went (send a copy to the classroom teacher).
Settle up the classroom (erase whiteboards, stack chairs, close technology, turn off lights).
Return to the office to return keys and sign out.
